[ARCHIVED] Pocatello Fire Department Teams up with Domino’s® Encouraging Fire Safety

Pocatello Fire Department

A few randomly selected Pocatello residents may get a free meal; all they need to do is have working smoke alarms. During Fire Prevention Week, the Pocatello Fire Department and Pocatello Domino’s, at 275 Yellowstone, will be teaming up to promote fire safety. October 5, 6, and 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. anyone who orders pizza may be randomly selected to have their pizza delivered by firefighters. The fire crew will then check the house and if the smoke alarms are in working order, the pizza is free. If not, firefighters will replace the batteries. “According to statistics from the National Fire Prevention Association, working smoke alarms cut the risk of dying in a home fire in half,” said Kim Stouse, Community Relations Specialist with the Pocatello Fire Department. “When smoke alarms fail to operate, it is usually because batteries are missing, disconnected, or dead. We want to reiterate to the residents of Pocatello that a working smoke alarm is one of best ways to keep them and their families safe.” The effort is in conjunction with the National Fire Prevention Association’s Fire Prevention Week campaign which runs from October 4 through October 10. This year’s theme is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.” For more information on fire prevention and safety visit http://www.nfpa.org/safety-information.
