A Pocatello tradition will return for the 18th consecutive year on Saturday, October 3. That morning, Friends of the Pocatello Animal Shelter will host “Run with the Big Dogs” at the lower level of Ross Park. At 11:00 a.m., feet and paws alike will be taking to the pavement to help support the many adoption programs at the shelter. “For nearly 20 years, Friends has supported the mission of the Pocatello Animal Services Department and we’d like thank them for that continued support,” said Mary Remer, Animal Services Director. “With their help from events like Run with the Big Dogs, we’ve been able to find homes and families for a countless number of dogs and cats.” The event features three divisions – a 2K walk, 5K walk, and 5K run. Right now, discounted registration is underway and adult registration (13 or older) costs $25 per participant while children’s registration (12 and under) is $15 per participant. Early registration closes on Saturday, September 26. Participants can still register up until race day but after Saturday, the fee increases to $35 for adults and $25 for children. Registration includes a t-shirt, bandana for the dog, and a doggy bag (while supplies last). Participants will also be entered for a chance to win one of many draw prizes.
