[ARCHIVED] Community Emergency Preparedness and Safety Fair to be Held Sept. 22, 2015

Nobody wants to be confronted with a disaster. It can happen anywhere at any time. What we can do is to make sure we are prepared to care for ourselves, our family and assist in an organized, community response to a disaster. To help our community prepare, the Police and Fire Departments are sponsoring a Community Emergency Preparedness and Safety Fair on Tuesday, September 22 from 3 pm to 8 pm in Museum of Clean Event Center at 711 S. Ave in Pocatello.

The fair will focus on educating the public in disaster preparedness and response. Participants will receive information on: how to prepare your family for an emergency, building your 72-hour emergency kit, vehicle emergency kit, food and water storage, fire safety, crime prevention, and home safety tips. There will be numerous displays, vendors with products for sale, mini-classes every half hour and door prizes.

“In the last few years, our community has experienced a wildfire and flooding,” states Lt. Ian Nelson of the Pocatello Police Department. “This highlights the need for all of us to prepare ourselves for any type of emergency, whether it is a natural disaster, a pandemic illness or a terrorist attack. You never know when it’s the day before a disaster.”

The Museum of Clean Event Center is located at 711 S. 2nd Avenue. The event is free, open to the public and is handicap accessible. For a list of display, vendors and the class schedule, please visit the website at http://prepfair.pocatello.us/
