The City of Pocatello is proud to be partnering with Bannock County and many other local organizations to help bring awareness to Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
PRESS RELEASE (Bannock County): Local elected officials are hosting a kickoff event for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m., community members are invited to attend a candlelight vigil at Lookout Point, 435 W Center in Pocatello.
Members of the Bannock County Coroner’s Office, Bannock County Commissioners’ Office, City of Pocatello, City of Chubbuck, and the Region 6 Behavioral Health Board, among others, are coming together to host this event.
“The impacts of suicide are far-reaching and touch every part of our little community, which is why we want to bring everyone together in the fight against suicide. Our intent with this event is to raise awareness of our local mental health resources while sending the message that if you’re struggling with suicidal thoughts, you are not alone in this fight,” said Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner.
If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat online at 988lifeline.org.

The City of Pocatello, Kind Community, School District 25, Idaho State University, Southeastern Idaho Public Health, and other strong community institutions are partnering to spread kindness and remind everyone they matter.
