May 22, 2023: the Youth Council completed a Little Free Pantry. The pantry is located in the City Hall parking lot in the waterwise garden area, near the glass recycling bins. The pantry is open to anyone in need and is stocked with food and toiletry items. We hope individuals will use the pantry similar to the Little Free Library concept – take what you need and give what you can. https://www.littlefreepantry.org/ We’ll also be adding our pantry to the nationwide map in the next week.
A big thank you to our community for your support and contributions! Thank you
Pocatello Grocery Outlet who surprised the students with a truckload of items!!!!! The students would also like to thank Ted Booth for helping them design the pantry, Sherwin Williams for the paint, and Superior Cabinets for building the pantry.

May 18, 2023: The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) along with the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce Chamber Chiefs will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, May 22, 2023, at 5:15 p.m. for their new Little Free Pantry. Community members are invited and encouraged to bring pantry items – shelf-stable food, toiletries, etc. to the ribbon-cutting event. Little Free Pantry is a grassroots mini-pantry movement established in 2016, similar in concept to Little Libraries that provide books.
One of MYAC’s 2023 project ideas was to build and stock a Little Free Pantry. MYAC’s pantry will be available to the community May 22 and will be located in the Water Wise Demo Garden, which can be found at City Hall behind the glass recycling bin.
This is a Youth Council-driven project. The students met with a local architect to help design the pantry and worked with one of the MYAC student’s parents to help with construction and painting.

MYAC is composed of students in the 9th through 12th grades within the Pocatello Chubbuck School District boundaries, including students from home schools, and private or online academies. Members learn about local government, work with the Mayor on matters of importance to youth, and organize/implement various activities.

City Hall is accessible to persons with disabilities. Program access accommodations may be provided with three (3) days advance notice by contacting Skyler Beebe at sbeebe@pocatello.gov, 208.234.6248, or 5815 South 5th Avenue, Pocatello, ID.
