[ARCHIVED] Pocatello Fire Department, Bannock County Ambulance District Recognized for Outstanding Cardiac Care

The Pocatello Fire Department and the Bannock County Ambulance District are now in elite company when it comes to cardiac care.

Recently, the department was recognized by the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline program. The program was created to highlight the emergency medical service providers who maintain the highest levels of cardiac care.

“There are pretty specific criteria that you have to meet to win this award,” said Pocatello Fire Chief David Gates. “For example, patients who are over 35-years-old must receive a 12-point echocardiogram when they are transported and patients have to be transported to the appropriate hospital and be receiving treatment in less than 30 minutes. This is a great accomplishment and we’re proud of everyone in the department who made it possible.”

The only other department in the state of Idaho recognized by Mission: Lifeline is the Ada County Emergency Medical Services District based in Boise.
