ICCU Ski for Free Day

Join us for our season kickoff event on Saturday, January 6, 2024 sponsored by ICCU! Both trail passes and ski and snowshoe rentals are free for the day. Volunteer instructors are also available to give free mini lessons. If you need to borrow equipment, please sign up in advance for a 2-hour slot at rent.pocatello.gov. We will have limited additional equipment available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who do not sign up, but it is not guaranteed. You can also consider renting in advance from a ski shop in Pocatello to guarantee a seamless, stress-free day. Nordic Ski and Explore

A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING REQUIRED
Ages: 14+ w/adult, 18+ w/o adult
Advanced registration required!* 
*Registration ends on week before each class.

Join us on this progressive adventure! This 3-part series is designed for those who have classic cross-country experience, but want to expand their skills and explore local Nordic areas.  Includes trail pass. Ski rentals available for an additional $10/day.

Note: This class is highly weather-dependent which means classes may be canceled or travel destinations changed.

  • Dates: December 17, 2023; January 21 and February 25, 2024
  • Time: 10 a.m. – 12:00 noon* (December and February)
    10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.* (January)
    *Flexible due to finishing times on trails
  • Location: 
    • December 17: East Mink Creek Nordic Center
      Held at the East Mink Creek Nordic Center, this part will begin with a lesson followed by a tour tailored to your ability level.
    • January 21: Ross Park Shop (2701 S 2nd Ave)
      We will head to Soda Springs to check out their rolling terrain. Transportation is provided from our Ross Park Shop.
    • February 25: East Mink Creek Nordic Center
      Back at EMCNC, we will tackle the fun and challenging terrain by exploring the more difficult trails such as Screamer and Lost Groomer.
  • Cost: $60* for the series
    *Includes transportation and trail passes
  • Equipment Rental: $10*
    *Discounted for class

Sunday Snowshoe & Wine Club

We will hang out by the fire in the yurt enjoying a snack and beverage of your choice and then hit the trails on snowshoe for a relaxing tour. Please plan your drive home responsibly. Beverages not provided, please bring one of your choice.  No registration necessary.

  • Date: February 4, 2024
  • Time: Meet at 12:00 noon; hike begins at 1:00 p.m.
  • Location: Yurt at East Fork Mink Creek Nordic Center
  • Cost: $5 per car to park; $7 to rent snowshoes (if necessary)

Ski Lessons

Women's Winter Lesson Series

Learn to Nordic ski in supportive environment with a female instructor! We’ll cover the basics of equipment and technique to get you out and about skiing on the trails. No experience necessary. Includes equipment rental and trail pass.

  • Classic Ski Beginner:  January 7, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  • Skate Ski Beginner:  January 7, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. 

COST

  • $20 per class

Adult Ski Lessons

We offer private lessons for your group of 2-6 adults. Cost is $60/hour. Trail passes and rental equipment available at an additional charge. Groups over 25 are eligible for package deals on equipment and passes.  Please email Andrea Faust to check availability and to schedule.
