Curbside Recycling Opt-In Form

Residential Curbside Recycling Service

Residential curbside recycling service is included in the cost of curbside garbage service for all residential customers. However, recycling service is voluntary and will not begin unless requested by the customer. Recycle carts are collected every other week on Schedule A or Schedule B on the same day as garbage collection.

To request service, call the Sanitation Department at 208-234-6192 or use the Curbside Recycling Service Opt-In Form. For rental properties, the property owner or property manager will need to make the request.

Recycle Cart

Recycle carts are available in the 96-gallon size only.

  • Cart Dimensions
    29.25" W x 34.5" D x 46.75" H
  • Cost
    One cart is included in the cost of curbside garbage service. Additional recycle carts are available for an additional monthly fee. Lost or intentionally damaged carts will be assessed a cart replacement fee.

  • Optional Services
    • One-time additional pickups may be requested for a fee per cart per pickup. Additional pickups must be requested by 12:00 p.m. for same-day service.
    • Contaminated carts may be requested for one-time additional pickup for a fee per cart per pickup.
    • Cart cleaning may be requested for $20.00 per cart.
  • Collection Schedule
    Recycle carts are collected on every other week on Schedule A or Schedule B on the same day as garbage collection. Place carts out on the curb no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the day before and no later than 7:00 a.m. on collection day to ensure collection. Recycling Guidelines

DO NOT BAG RECYCLABLES

ITEMS ACCEPTED
Paper – newspapers, magazines, phone books, catalogs, office paper, note pads, index cards, coated paper, brochures, junk mail, envelopes, manila folders
Plastic – all bottles marked with #1 or #2 recycle symbols that have been rinsed and their caps securely fastened
Metal – tin and aluminum cans that have been rinsed of contents
Cardboard – moving boxes, shipping boxes, cereal boxes, frozen food boxes, other food packaging boxes, paper towel cores
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED
Paper – shredded paper, paper towels, tissues, paper plates, tissue paper, cellophane paper, wax-coated beverage containers (milk cartons, juice boxes, etc.), 
Plastic – plastic bags (garbage bags, grocery bags, water softener salt bags), plastics marked with #3 through #7 recycle symbols (deli trays, clam shells, yogurt containers, cottage cheese containers, etc.), plastic utensils, potato chip bags, PVC and ABS pipe, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, cereal box liners
Metal – aerosol cans, fence posts, auto parts, plumbing parts, pipe
Hazardous Material – Medical waste, animal waste, human waste, any container that has been filled with paint, pesticides, herbicides or petroleum products
Other – food waste, yard waste, packaging materials (peanuts, Styrofoam, etc.), Styrofoam containers, batteries, diapers, toys, clothing, carpet, foam, rubber, ceramic containers, string, glass, furnace filters
IF IN DOUBT, LEAVE IT OUT.

Violation of these rules may result in the removal of the recycle cart and termination of recycle service for a minimum of 3 years.

The Sanitation Department offers garbage and recycle carts for events for $25.00 per cart. To reserve an event cart, or for more information, contact the Sanitation Department at 208-234-6192.
