Burning Permits

Open burning in Pocatello requires a burning permit except when cooking or warming fires. Burn permits may be submitted online or acquired at Fire Station #1 located at 408 E Whitman in Pocatello.

Flow Testing

  • $60 – Water supply (hydrant flow) testing
  • $100 – Private hydrant system (per hydrant)

Aircraft Refueling

  • $125 (annual fee) – Permit for the operation of aircraft refueling vehicles for one year, application required (Vendor Permit and Inspection)
  • $25 (annual fee) – Aircraft refueling certification for one year, application required (Individual Operator Certification)

Fire Department Construction Permit

  • Construction Plan Review and Inspection Fee
    • Commercial – 16% of building permit fee
    • Residential – 8% of building permit fee
  • Sprinkler System Permit Fees – $150 base fee plus $2.00 per head, Fire Sprinkler, Standpipe and Fire Pump System (plan review and installation inspection)  
  • Fire Alarm Permit and Plan Review Fee – $100 base fee plus $4.00 per device
  • Hood Plan Review and Inspection Fee – $100 Commercial Kitchen Hood Extinguishing System (plan review and inspection)
  • Additional Inspection – $40 per visit for any construction permits requiring more than two inspections
    • $140 – First hour of after-hours inspection
    • $70 – Each additional hour of an after-hours inspection
    • After-hours inspections, if available, are between 5 PM and 8 AM and on weekends
  • Special Hazard Plan Review – $100
  • Detonation of Explosives Permit – $150

False Alarms

False alarms within a 6-month consecutive period (business owner responsible)

  • 1st and 2nd false alarms – $0.00
  • 3rd false alarm – Warning Letter
  • 4th false alarm – $150.00 
  • 5th and subsequent false alarms – $300.00
A 3% convenience fee will be charged on all card transactions.
